African Union Job Vacancy for SAP Finance Expert (SAPFE04)


Job title:  SAP Finance Expert
Grade: P2
Number of vacant positions: Two (2)
Supervisor:   IMIS Project Manager.
Directorate:   Administration and Human Resource Management
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

2.  Job purpose: 
Under the direct supervision of the IMIS Project Manager and the overall
supervision of the Head of MIS,  the Finance SAP Expert shall be
responsible for direction, planning, support and management of all finance
activities related to SAP Finance support and development. His/her
functions shall include support and maintaining a professional system of
financial accounting, records keeping and reporting to ensure an effective
and transparent administration of PBFA directorate. 
  
3.  Major duties and responsibilities:
 General functional support to end  users on recurrent Finance systems
problems.
 Training of end users and new staff in Finance.
 Preparation and updating of business process procedures.
 Continuous business process improvements and streamlining business
processes by establishing additional controls.
 Support to Technical Team when developing or enhancing reports, Smart
Forms and workflows.
 Testing for new functionalities and developments in Finance.
 Addition of new functionalities and enhancements in Finance modules as
per business requirements.
 Generation and extraction of special and strategic reports.
 Ensuring of data integrity in the system.
 Roll out and support activities for Regional Offices.
 Provide guidance and advice to Management on SAP Matters.
 Review and improve financial records and monitoring processes to ensure
efficient and effective systems
 Ensure proper functioning of the AUC Accounting System  Maintain a financial reporting calendar and ensure timely preparation of all
financial reports
 Provide advice and ensure compliance with financial regulations and other
determined financial policies
 Ensure that accurate and complete  accounting, reporting and internal
control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are
maintained accurately
 Promote best practices, transparency, accountability and appropriate
working systems
 Ensure effective and efficient utilization of financial resources
 Prepare Financial Statements for consideration of the Commission,
Member States and Partners as well as internal/external auditors
 Prepare the year-end financial statements which form part of the annual
financial reports
 Perform any other relevant duty/ responsibility assigned.

4.  Qualifications and experience required:
 Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting,
Financial Management or Commerce. 
 A professional qualification in Accounting such as CPA, CA, ACCA,
CIMA or equivalent from a recognized Institution will be an added
advantage.
 Candidates must also be SAP FI/CO Certified.
5.  Work experience Required:
 Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience
in Accounting, Auditing and/ or Financial Management.  
 Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years SAP FI/CO work
experience.  
 Experience in SAP Fund Management and Travel Management is
essential.
6. Other Relevant Skills Required:
- Financial management and analytical skills in a Donor funded
environment;
- Knowledge of funding and other resource mobilization mechanisms;
- Development of procedures and  Computerized System design and
implementation skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, report writing and communication skills;
- Excellent computer skills with practical knowledge of and experience in
accounting softwares
7.  Language requirement:  Proficiency in one of the African Union working
languages is a requirement; Knowledge  of one or more of the other AU
working languages would be an added advantage.
8.  Age requirement: Candidates must preferably be between 25 and 35
years old.
9. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be for an initial period of one (1) year renewable
subject to satisfactory performance and availability of fund.

12. Remuneration: The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum
of US$ 69,392.86 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited
staff, and US$ 57,789.27 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited
staff.
